JO’S TOP WINTER HAIR CARE TIPS
When the Christmas ads suddenly start appearing on our TV screens, you know it’s time to accept that winter is just around the corner. So to get ahead of the damage that the weather (and everything else that comes with it) can do to your hair – here are a few tips from Jo herself, to help you banish those winter hair blues, before they even take hold!
ONE: Try to avoid washing your hair every day. Over-washing can be dehydrating for your locks and strip the natural oils, so try to make your hair go an extra day every now and then – plus there are plenty of up-do’s that look great the day after you’ve washed your hair! To help your hair last an extra wash
TWO: When washing your hair, massage your scalp to encourage blood circulation and stimulate growth giving you thicker, longer hair.
THREE: Give your hair a break from styling with tongs and straighteners every now and then. Embrace your natural waves or style your hair in a bun or chignon. When using your hairdryer, keep it on a low heat until your hair is 80% dry and then finish off with a round brush on a higher heat to style.
FOUR: Eat foods that are high in good fats, vitamins and Omega 3 oil to promote healthy growth and nourish your hair such as fish, avocado, beans and pulses. Also, drinking lots of water is essential at any time of year to rehydrate your body, skin and hair.
FIVE: Rinsing your hair with Vitamin C is a perfect way to boost your hairs’ vitamins and also clarify blonde hair that may be off colour from too much swimming or after a holiday in the sun for those lucky enough to have escaped the cold UK weather!
SIX: Always comb wet hair gently with a Tangle Teezer, or wide tooth comb to avoid causing split ends and pulling your hair out.
SEVEN: Use the Jo Hansford Intensive Masque once a week to re-hydrate and
nourish your hair, leaving you with healthy glossy locks. When using a hair masque for intense hydration, try to leave it on for as long as possible. We recommend applying the masque and then wrapping your hair in a hot towel for 10 minutes before rinsing.
EIGHT: Hair oils are also great for re-hydrating your hair as well as soothing your scalp. Jo Hansford Illuminoil is perfect for repairing, restructuring and nourishing, dry, damaged or over processed hair.
NINE: Make sure you have regular trims or even a restyle throughout the winter months – it’s one of the best ways to re-invigorate your hair and lose any split ends whilst at the same time promoting healthy growth and good hair days!
TEN: If your colour is in need of a boost but you aren’t due to have your roots done yet, book in for a gloss boosting vegetable colour or shine treatment – excellent for enhancing your colour and leaving your hair looking healthy and in excellent condition, guaranteed to brighten up a dull winter’s day!
