With more than 25 years at Jo Hansford, Gemma is one of the salon’s foremost colour authorities, renowned for her exceptional technical expertise and instinctive understanding of beautifully considered colour.

Having joined the salon at just 16, Gemma has developed an extraordinary depth of colour knowledge throughout her career. Today, she is particularly sought after for sophisticated grey blending, advanced colour correction and bespoke colour transformations -disciplines that demand exceptional technical skill, precision and experience.

Gemma’s approach to grey blending is highly individual. Rather than simply concealing grey, she works intelligently with each client’s natural hair, carefully considering tone, placement and the individual pattern of grey to create beautifully seamless, dimensional colour with an elegant and refined grow-out.

Her expertise is equally invaluable when approaching complex colour correction. Gemma carefully assesses the history, condition and integrity of the hair before creating a considered colour journey, allowing even challenging corrections to be approached with precision and care.

Beyond her work with clients, Gemma is Jo’s trusted second in command and leads the renowned Jo Hansford training programme. Through her mentorship, she passes on decades of technical knowledge and ensures the exacting standards of Jo Hansford colour continue through the next generation of colourists.

Alongside her leadership responsibilities, Gemma maintains an exceptionally loyal client following and remains an integral force at the heart of the Jo Hansford colour team.
