Jo Hansford has been specialising in highlights for over 33 years. For us, beautiful highlights have always been about creating colour that looks naturally radiant - expertly placed, softly blended, and grown out seamlessly without harsh regrowth lines.
Our colour specialists are trained personally by Jo Hansford, described by American Vogue as the best tinter on the planet, and work from our Mayfair salon with clients across London, the UK and internationally.
Every highlights appointment begins with a in-depth consultation - because the right placement, tone and technique depends entirely on your hair, your colouring and the result you are looking for.
We offer the full range of highlighting techniques and will advise on the most suitable approach at your consultation. The techniques we use most frequently include:
Classic Foil highlights
The original highlighting method, using foils for precise, controlled lift. Ideal for clients who want a more defined result, significant lightening or consistent brightness throughout the hair. Available as a full head, half head or T-section service.
Babylights
Very fine, closely spaced highlights that create a soft, luminous effect close to natural sun-kissed hair. Particularly effective on finer hair or for clients who want a subtle, low-contrast result that grows out with minimal visible regrowth.
Face-Framing Highlights
Strategically placed to frame the face or add brightness to specific sections, without changing the overall tone of the hair. A good option for clients who want a targeted, lower-maintenance result.
Tonal gloss and toner
Used alongside highlighting to refine the finish, eliminate brassiness and add depth or warmth depending on the desired result. Often recommended as part of a highlights appointment.
highlight FAQs
Highlights work across a wide
range of natural hair colours and textures. They are particularly effective
for:
Clients wanting to lighten their overall appearance without a full colour change
Adding dimension and movement to flat or single-toned hair
Blending early grey growth naturally into the existing colour
Refreshing and brightening an existing colour between major appointments
If you are unsure whether highlights or balayage would better suit your hair and lifestyle, we will
discuss both options at your consultation and recommend the right approach.
There is no obligation to commit to a service until you are confident it is right
for you.
